sacred
groves is a traditional method of indian calture practies, usully
relatted to particular community practices. Kerala it is known as sarppa
kavu or kavu.Sarppakavu is a worship to sarppam [ SNAKE] , protect their environment.Here,putout lamp [nilavilakku neettal] used by coconut oil or gingelly oil .[morning and evening time ]

MY KATTOR village ALAPPUZHA near kuttanadu,Above kavu named by mullakavu or madathyil kavu near my home.
Kavu helps to protect our environment . it is a good eccosystem and good biodivesity ,many flora and funa. Every kavu have a pool and, different type of tree .Above the picture , you can see a main tree, it is a[ athy] tree. 
kerala main kavu is known as Mannarashala [alappuzha distict].
